Intercultural Hotel Kick-off meeting
OECON Group experts, together with partners from Ireland, Cyprus, Poland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Italy, and Slovenia participated in the kick-off meeting of the Intercultural Hotel project, which took place in Turin on 10 December 2021.
At the meeting have been discussed, among other issues, the upcoming actions of the project, which will start in January 2022 and in addition the project schedule was renewed.


The InterCulturalHotel project will assess the intercultural abilities of owners and employees in the tourism and hospitality industry and will create a training methodology using critical intercultural incidents stemming from daily work experience. These incidents will be used to create three prototypes for each of the following departments of the hotel: Reception (reception), Catering, Cleaning and Management.
Project duration: 25 months (01/12/2021 – 31/12/2023)
The specific objectives of the project are:
1.To broaden the intercultural awareness of hospitality staff,
2.Creating a more creative and collaborative working environment in the hospitality sector,
3.Increasing the competitiveness of the hospitality sector in Europe;
4.Promoting an inclusive and equal work culture;
5.Introduce an educational model that is in line with the reality of the hospitality sector and, where possible, include teachers and students of vocational education and training;
6.To offer local and environment-tailored educational content,
7.To prepare the intercultural and linguistic ability of hotel staff for the upcoming tourism markets of Russia and China,
8. Improvement of the cultural experience of visitors,
9.Help build interpersonal bonds and facilitate interpersonal processes in a multicultural workforce
