Business angel investment is of crucial importance for the funding of early-stage and start-up businesses and has a positive impact on growth and employment . Through the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan, the EU recognises Women Entrepreneurs (WE) as a source of untapped entrepreneurial potential that has to be more efficiently supported. CrossEUWBA brings together a consortium of 6 entities from 5 EU Member States that are experienced in the support of WE and Women Business Angels (WBAs):

  • Active WBA club: Informal WBA club run by Fundacja Przedsiębiorczości Kobiet (FPK)- Poland (Black Swan);
  • Chambers of commerce and Industry: Italienische Handelskammer für Deutschland (ITKAM)-Germany, Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI)-Greece.
  • Business support organisations: Slovak Business Agency (SBA)-Slovakia; Innogate to Europe (INNO)-Spain; Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP)-Poland.

The consortium partners intend to channel this expertise by focusing on the general objective of facilitating the funding of women entrepreneurs through women business angels (WBAs) and contributing to the creation of a sustainable base of private investment in Europe, pursuing the following specific objectives:

  1. Better understand the success factors and challenges that women are facing to become WBAs to increase the number of WBAs in Europe, particularly in the countries with low participation
  2. Increase the diversity of WBAs and the number of sectors that benefit from WBA investment
  3. Increase the number of ready-for investment women entrepreneurs’ projects
  4. Effectively match WBAs and WE, also through cross-border investments
  5. Networking, community building and exploitation for promoting a favourable and sustainable environment for WBA networks/association/clubs
